bad nanny

kitty! i know i have been super slack with the blog posting, but have also been super busy... sorry :(

thought i would give you a quick catch up on the last few months events and then start fresh with regular posts in the new year.... so here goes...

we went to berlin and caught up with Bastian and had romance time... it was awesome.

here he is with his lady - they are still fresh in love....

so are we :)

then it was work, work, work, stress, stress, stress til we went on our holiday with the fam.

first up was Marrakech, all bin cats and shrieking mosques, eager rug salesmen and murderous mopeds winding through the souks. we ate crepes and lapped up the sun on the roof terrace, we watched snake charmers and monkey tamers and played monopoly and scrabble by the fire every night. photos to follow...

Golden Girls - they were popular for a reason!

So I have a project for us. The government has heaps of $$$$ for positive aging projects and I was thinking we should do a doco or something around older people. Lets face it they have way better stories over young people. Think about it.

Yummy

I love the drawing - you are such a crafty lady!

I found this NZ food site the other day and it looked like it had lots of yummy stuff.

http://ourkitchen.fisherpaykel.com/

It is fisher and paykel....but I will juts pretend that it is an independent blog. I am still making some little badges and I will pop some in the post for you - I have another little treat for you, but you will have to fix it a little. My friend Tina is going to be in London in a few weeks - maybe you could have a little drink with her. I think we should move to NY!

Big hug xxxx

halloween

kitty! i was so excited to get on the blog and see so many entries with lovely pictures.

firstly i think a part time sea-change sounds fabulous, if i could do it i would. you will not end up any more crazy than you are already. do it!!!!! thank you for the hilarious, wild and strange mongolia pics - does that feel like a dream now? it must feel very far away from where you are. my favourite is the little chub-chub hanging out of his window. also, the bag is adorable - are you still doing dino-badges? send me pics!

i have also had a felt experimentation with these martha stewart slippers.

i was not so inventive as to make the felt myself, so it's pretty much cheating, but i do love them and they are lovely and comfortable.

so, halloween was last weekend and sandy and i went to a party and dressed up as mel and bret from flight of the conchords. it was fun. here's a pic of us at the party and also a little illustration project i did from the same pic. i think i might start doing some illustration classes - it is fun.

man oh man i miss you - however i have exciting news, sand and i will be home in march for a wedding - so we will have to rendezvous for a spoon.

Sea change

So I am thinking of moving to Potato Point part-time. I am wondering if I would turn into a heaps crazy person...or is this totally excellent?

I would live in Sydney 3 days and then at the coast on the other 4

Highlights from Mongolia - Sydney is looking rather boring

A little felt bag

I thought I would show you this little bag that I made from wool - then felted.

activities

hey kitty,

just a wee post to update you on new activities I am engaging in over here in wintery London.

like i mentioned in the last post, i have joined a book club. last week we did lady chatterlys lover. it was great - we did talk about penises, but also lots more highbrow topics.

also, i have joined a choir...

... not that kind of choir!

a community choir, so a bit more like this...

... i went to my first practice last night and it was surprisingly fun. there were lots of lovely people and we sang this song...

i thoroughly enjoyed myself. the choir is called The East London Soul Singers. we are doing a christmas concert in a mall - excellent.

ok bye.

The last two weeks

have been baking, dressing up, cycling. the weather gets colder and we wear more wool. the cold wind gives me a headache and i buy earmuffs. i have joined a book club, we read lady chatterlys lover and when i read it on the bus i cover the rude bits with my hand so the person next to me doesn't think i'm a pervert. it's nice when we talk about the book, it's invigorating to discuss something other than x-factor on the telly.

so here are some pics from my last couple of weeks. i am trying a 1940's thing at the moment.

as always... i miss you x

autumn days

so it's late september and the air is chilling slightly over here in london town. the days are clear, crisp and sunny. it's time for wool and tweed. here's my first official autumn look for your viewing pleasure.

in this outfit today we went to brick lane and i bought a leather pencil skirt... trust me! i can make it work. we ate pad thai and went couch shopping and lay in the park on our jackets in the sunshine. sandy drank peronis and i drank ice tea. we ate chips and then walked home hand in hand.

miss you xxx

ears and eyes

hey c,

sorry i haven't replied to your info-filled email. i was delighted to receive it - but i have been super unwell with some horrible ear infection. my ears are crackly and i feel like i'm wandering around in a bubble. it sucks big time.

anyways during my recuperation i have been sewing up a storm and have finished by first piece on the new sewing machine:

so i'm back in london. i went to nyc and it was amazing and dirty and hot and i got sick, but still had some good times. here is my collage for you to see the things i saw while i was there. it was rad.

nanny, out.

Bowie

So I was talking to some people over dinner last night about eighties fantasy movies and we realized that David Bowie in The Labyrinth was a sexual awakening for many women of our age. It got me thinking about those tight grey trousers and their strange and magical allure and I was inspired to write a poem. I thought I would share it with you.

Bowie.

Goblins and goblets,
and dove grey sheaths;
so suggestive.
shadows and light;
dance magic dance
for my teenage delight.

So there you go, I hope you enjoyed that. Seriously - this is turning into a one way blog - are you ever joining me in the 21st Century and online.

I miss you.

well, i'm here in toronto - looking out the window of my 11th floor apartment..sorry - condo. the sky is getting dark as i watch old episodes of law and order.

the day before yesterday there was a tornado just outside the city, the sky was green and the rain blew sideways - i felt like dorothy.

in two weeks i will be in new york, i will go to beacons closet and think of you.

the dummy

Hey C-Payne,

The bodyform is made and I've put together a wee video of how Sandy and I made it in case you want one. It's not that hard, but it takes ages so you need a free weekend to finish it. Also, be prepared to feel a bit claustrophobic and pukey when you are encased in a tight wrapping of tape, it's hot and not very comfortable.

Many kisses and squeezes.

projects

kitty,

How is Sydney? I have not heard from you, I assume you are in sex haze and cannot get to the phone/computer. I understand.

I thought though that I would update you on life in London and some crafty projects I have lined up for the weekend.

We went to Latitude festival over the weekend, it was fabulous. I didn't shower for 4 days and was mud splattered and sore legged from so much dancing. We saw Grace Jones, Nick Cave and Ladyhawke and many, many more mind-blowing performances. You would have loved it.

Sandy got me a sewing machine (isn't he just the best?!) so I am invigorated to get back on the craft train. This weekend I am going to make a dressmakers dummy with duct/packing tape (have a look at the threadbanger channel on youtube.com, they have video tutorials) so I can start making lots of lovely dresses.

Also, I am thinking jewelry, I have some ideas about wooden necklaces that kind of like breastplates - hard to explain but I will post some pics when I'm done.

I miss you - write soon.

Reading lists

Kitty,

here is the blog I was telling you about - it's done by my friends girlfriend in Melbourne and she is also a Brown Owl like yourself! Enjoy - it's lovely.

I am also enjoying
this at the moment, it's painful how accurate it is. If you want some cheap and nasty laughs, (which I know you always do) have a look at this

Thank you for uploading those piccies... although it made me all nostalgic! Especially the one in Thailand - they were good days, waking up to the sound of the ocean, coconut milkshakes and jenga at breakfast and pad thai and card games over dinner. Sigh.

I love you

A digital mix tape

kitty,

One day we will live in the same country (or if I am truly hopeful, the same city) and we will be able to hang out together, drink wine, listen to music and talk about our plans to take over the documentary film making world. This is my imagined soundtrack to the first of these magical evenings.
